October 2002
Founder's Day Meeting
Flash! FOUNDER'S DAY MEETING on Sunday, November 3rd, at 2:00 PM will be held at the Seattle Pacific University Music Building, Room 211. We're looking forward to hearing Cesar Frank's Sonata in A Major performed by cellist HARRIET SHANK, and pianist JOHANNA MASTENBROOK. Do your best to be with us on this day - it will be a special musical experience for each of us and you'll catch up on the events of the day.
Shall we increase our scholarships? What is happening at the UW? And we hope there'll be members of the student chapter at Seattle Pacific University with us! We understand that the Faculty Lounge across from Room 211 will be available for a little reception, adn for visiting, following the meeting and performance.
October Meeting
The October Meeting proved very satisfying, though the number in attendance was not very large. Especially we are grateful to VICTORIA CHAUSSEE for providing not only her home, but refreshments as well as a lovely solo. A duet followed performed by VICTORIA and her sister, NOEL CURTIS. Their accompanist was GARY ARPIN. A great treat for all present!
At the business meeting, the dates were set for 2002-2003 as follows:
Sunday, February 9th, 2003 POTLUCK at JULIA BLACK'S home. (This co-editor was surprised to hear the JULIA is having knee replacement surgery on December 16th! This will be a bare six weeks following that event - we need to make sure that JULIA can preside from the comfort of her special chair or what have you, and that we do all the footwork, preparation and clean-up for this event. HELP! PLEASE CALL BARBARA DIETRICH IF YOU CAN HELP WITH THIS
Wednesday, May 7th, 2003 AT CATHERINE JENSEN'S home. We still need hostesses for this event, but we think we have the program lined up. Better wait until it's sure before we announce.
Then comes summer and our picnic and planning and another year will have flown by! You may notice that different days and times are being tried out. If you have not been with us at meetings, please know you have been missed! This Chapter wants to accommodate so that YOU can attend!
